- January 2000
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well the year 2000 has arrived and our
hydro and computer systems continue to function normally. There
have probably been more technical changes from 1990 to the year
2000 than any other recorded period of history.
Basics of Life
One of the things that has not changed since time has been recorded,
is how the body works. Basic biometabolic functions of the body
have stayed consistently and persistently the same. We are beginning
to understand more and more that much of our health and well being
all comes back to the mitochondria of the cell. The mitochondria
seems to be where all the action is at. When you lose the electrical
charge in the body and the mitochondria is compromised, this is
when we start to have all these known diseases that we as people
or as animals have. This is affected by a great range of factors,
however to put it in a nutshell, we really need to understand
again and again that we are part of the earth and that the 6"
of topsoil along with water and sunshine is what keeps us alive.
We need to understand that we have a tremendous
amount of responsibility to continue to keep the soil, the plants,
the animals and the people healthy.
We know that each generation of humans is becoming weaker. Years
ago, people could lift and carry 100 pounds with great ease. Today,
we are constantly finding ways of eliminating physical labour
which strengthens and tones our muscles and our well being. We
know for a fact that our level of disease tends to continue to
get worse.
I remember very well when I was going to high
school that the incidence of cancer was 1 in 18-20 people. This
was back in the early 1960's and today we are now looking at 1
in 3 people with cancer in their lifetime. We have contributed
millions and millions of dollars to the Cancer Society, Heart
& Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Foundation, Kidney Foundation,
Arthritis Foundation and yet we are not closer to understanding
the real problem.
The biggest part of our uncertainty, I believe,
is understanding that our soil has become more demineralized and
we have taken more and more nutritional value out of our food
to make it look beautiful and grow bigger. We might as well take
a balloon and fill it with hot air; in the process we have nothing
more to show for it other than more volume of nothing.
Anthrax Vaccine
Some other interesting sidelights which you may have missed in
our news. Back in October 1999, one of our newspaper reporters
from the local K-W Record wrote an article stating that five months
after hundreds of Canadian soldiers were given the anthrax vaccine,
the U.S. military admitted the drug had serious side effects.
This was reported by the Winnipeg Free Press. It also says that
in the end, they found out that Health Canada simply accepted
what the Americans had told them about the vaccine without checking
it out. This is another beautiful way that our government protects
us. They are given information and they say they have looked at
it and it is safe.
However, our governments have never tested many vaccines such
as the anthrax vaccine. The manufacturing plant that actually
produced this vaccine for Canada's military had run afoul of the
U.S. regulators and had had its production line shut down when
it authorized the vaccine's use for Canadian soldiers. Of course,
the government and the military disputed the reports and said
there were really no problems and it was simply a scare tactic.
Genetically Modified Food
The same thing applies to our food supply. We know that when karillian
photography is done, a photo of a person will show an aura around
that person. When that same person holds genetically modified
food and another photo is taken, the aura almost disappears. We
know that there are certain logical sequences when the body utilizes
the food it takes in. In the same way, the soil utilizes nutrients,
bacteria and sunshine to produce the plants that we depend upon
for our lives.
Every time that we disturb these blueprinting and sequencing techniques,
we are driving one more nail in our coffin towards the extinction
of the human race. Many of these companies have scrambled to be
the first in the marketplace without looking at the long term
ramifications or the implications of what their actions will ultimately
do 20, 40 or 60 years down the road. Recently a medical doctor
friend of mine from Florida called me and while we were discussing
the organic/natural food issue, he lamented the fact that the
public is so out of tune and does not recognize, realize or care
about what they are putting in their mouth. What a sad commentary
on us in North America if that is indeed the case.
Many of the genetically modified organism (GMO)
defenders notably AgCare, that great body of farmers that are
protecting you from yourselves, are saying that it will take less
chemicals to grow GMO crops. On the other hand, they are putting
more chemical into the soil when they admit they are applying
two to three sprayings per year on Roundup Ready or GMO fields
of soybeans or canola. We sometimes cannot see the forest for
the trees.
Unfortunately, when we see the likes of the
Ontario and Federal governments being hand in glove with big business,
we know there is a serious problem with you and I as taxpayers
footing the bill for GMO research.
In a recent situation that I encountered, I
wrote a letter to my MPP stating that it was not their job to
be in the business of promoting GMO food. Unfortunately, the MPP
office called me to say that even though I had invited him to
our Open House in July, he could not be there but would get back
to me. To this day, this MPP is such a busy man that he has not
had time to give me a call back.
A long great tradition of agricultural biological
research using randomized or controlled field or outcome trials
(on which modern statistics and scientific methods are based)
and long term detailed studies of effects on humans as well as
animals, have been totally side stepped or abandoned. We have
simply been reassured that the products are identical and that
they are safe. Only ignorance could be so positive or so arrogant.
Problems with Cow Trainers
OMAFRA is now becoming an expert on problems with cow trainers.
In the December Dairy magazine, an article by Dr. Neil Anderson
who is an OMAFRA veterinarian, waxes eloquent about the problem
with fencers and is asking for ideas and suggestions about what
to do with this dilemma of having cows tied but still keeping
them clean. I find this interesting because our friends at AgriVolt
have talked about the problem with fencers for years and have
been ridiculed.
Importance of Water Quality
Dairy Farmers of Ontario are suddenly becoming quality control
conscious about their water. An article written by Dr. Neil Anderson
and Dr. Ann Godkin of OMAFRA suddenly lends some credence to what
we at Bio-Ag have been saying for many years. Water is one of
the biggest components that we can have to feed our livestock.
It must be of unquestionable quality and purity and have a lack
of bacteria in it.
Bacteria in Pasteurized Milk?
I find it interesting that the research department at the University
of Guelph says that the bacteria that survives pasteurization
most frequently enters the system at the milk transport stage.
They keep telling me over and over how important it is to pasteurize
the milk. If this bacteria is present, it causes the milk to sour.
This is another example of how our experts don't know the difference
between rotted milk and actual unpasteurized soured milk. As we
go down the road of life and as less and less of these people
understand these concepts, they will more and more believe that
the emperor is in golden threads when indeed he has no clothes
on.
Monsanto's Posilac
One final note from the Milkweed. The December 99 issue of the
Farmers Milk Marketing Report from the United Stated arrived as
we were preparing this newsletter. One of the first things that
stood out and looked me right in the face is that Posilac, Monsanto's
genetically engineered hormone drug that boosts milk product is
not and I repeat, not the exact molecule upon which human and
animals tests were conducted. For many years prior to the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration approval of Monsanto's drug, unrecognized
changes occurred in the sequence of 191 amino acids. A single
amino acid change can dramatically alter how a hormone molecule
functions. With Posilac, at least three separate amino acid sequence
changes occurred in a significant portion of BST or rBST produced
with E.Coli Monsanto has reported.
What is interesting about this, is that a private
individual by the name of Robert Cohen, of Oredeil, New Jersey
has filed a legal complaint against the FDA, in other words a
citizen's petition, demanding that the agency immediately halt
Posilac. It lists a variety of human health concerns from milk
derived from Posilac injections.
The whole thing on changes in the amino acids already appeared
in a written article in July of 1994 in a book called Protein
Science. The article by a Bernard Violand, a Monsanto researcher,
found that one amino acid was actually appearing at three different
sites among the hormone's 191 amino acids. His article appeared
months after the FDA approved commercial sale of Posilac. His
article indicated that many of the safety tests conducted for
Posilac in the 80's and early 90's were conducted before the structural
problems were ever identified.
What is going to happen with all of our genetically
modified crops? If this absurd situation is the case, what is
going to happen to human beings when this whole mess changes.
One has to really wonder how long it is going
to take before this anomaly shows up in our RNA and DNA and in
succeeding generations. We may be dead and buried until this actually
starts to show. However, just as chemicals and drugs have induced
tremendous changes in soil bacteria, plants, animals and humans,
this genetically modified material which we know absolutely nothing
about, is going to make many of us wish that we had never ever
indulged in this practice.
Bio-Ag Seminar, January 26
A warm invitation to each of one you to attend
our one-day January seminar to be held in Wellesley. Two of the
powerful speakers that we have lined up for you will give you
a real insight into vaccinations and genetically modified foods.
We hope to see all of you there!
From the staff at Bio-Ag: Murray, Florence,
Susan, Carl, Ted, Bill, Mel, Betty Ann and Mary Lou.
BIO-AG DEALER PROFILE
DENNIS BATTE
Dennis was raised on a mixed farm near Formosa,
Ontario with a beef feedlot and pig operation. He attended the
Ontario Agriculture College and was a pig farmer for 12 years.
In 1984, he attended an ecological meeting
in near Kincardine and was impressed with the guest speaker, Murray
Bast. This experience led him to attend a farm tour at Murray's
farm and he started using Bio-Ag products in his operation. Other
area farmers became interested in Bio-Ag products and he joined
the Bio-Ag Dealer staff that same year.
Dennis currently resides at Belmore with his
wife Carol and their 4 children. In addition to being a Bio-Ag
dealer, Dennis also works full time as a Support Worker/Instructional
Assistant at Walkerton and District Community Support Services.
He enjoys hockey and softball and is a member of St. Joseph's
Aid Society.
Dennis services the area of Palmerston, Harriston, Clifford, Mildmay,
Walkerton, Hanover, Teeswater, Wingham and surrounding areas.
You can contact him at (519) 392-8000 phone & fax or by calling
